PRS-600 Problem with Sony software displaying/syncing/exporting notes (the arrow button)

The Sony Reader Library software displays the highlighting and annotations I've made on the documents on my device. I just started using this feature today, but I have found at least one document where the software is failing to display the highlighting and notes which I know are there, and the green arrow underneath (which usually exports highlighting and notes to an RTF) is grayed out. Any ideas why this would be happening and what I can do to fix the problem?

Still no luck exporting the notes from this one ebook. Does anybody have some experience with this feature?

Never mind, it seems the problem is actually different--and worse. The highlighting and notes appear to have been cleared from the document entirely. I spent 3 hours notating this document. Now I'm wondering if the software was responsible, since I never had this problem before using the software.
