Sony Reader: Newbie-Fragen zu Formaten
Hallo deutsche Sony-User,
ich komme aus München und möchte mir einen eBookReader zulegen. Dabei habe ich lange Zeit mit dem Amazon Kindle geliebäugelt - einfache Handhabung, online Ordern, keine Formatierungsarien, sondern gleich loslesen. Da der Kindle aber nicht auf der Buchmesse vorgestellt wurde, bezweifle ich mittlerweile einen baldigen Deutschlandstart und setze mich nun mit meiner Alternative auseinander: dem Sony PRS 505. Ich würde mir gerne einen aus USA oder UK kaufen (ja, die Ungeduld!). Dabei macht die Handhabung mir noch etwas Kopfzerbrechen. Den Sony Store kann ich für den Kauf von eBooks nicht nutzen, da ich keine US-Bürgerin bin. Aber sind die eBooks, die man auf libri, fictionwise o.ä. (Mobipocket) kauft, denn vom Format her problemlos "kompatibel"? Nein, oder? Wenn Ihr eBooks kauft, müsst Ihr die alle erst ins Sony-eigene Format konvertieren, oder? Ich werde jetzt bestimmt müde belächelt, aber beim Wort "Konvertieren" seh ich mich schon stundenlang der Verzweiflung nah und bis tief in die Nacht vor meinem Notebook sitzen ;-) Kann mich jemand von Euch aufklären oder vielleicht sogar beruhigen, dass das alles ganz einfach ist? Und ich habe noch eine zweite Frage: Mit dem Deutschlandstart des Sony in 2009 wird es ja auch über libri.de deutsche Bücher dafür geben. Wenn ich einen US- oder UK-Sony habe, kann ich dann damit diese deutschen Sony eBooks überhaupt lesen? Oh je, Ihr seht schon: Ich bin wirklich noch neu, was die ganze Thematik anbelangt. Schau dir alternativ zum Sony reader auch das Cybook an, es ist im Preis gefallen und kostet nun fast das selbe wie der Sony reader (und ist auch jetzt schon offiziell in Europa erhältlich, was für die Garantie wichtig ist - Sony gibt dir soweit ich weiß keine Garantie auf den reader wenn er nicht in Deutschland erhältlich ist).
Das Forum bietet auch Vergleichs-threads zwischen den beiden, für mich persönlich hat das Cybook die Nase weit vorn. (Ausserdem unterstützt es mobi, damit sind alle Bücher die du auf fictionwise,libri.de,etc bekommst direkt und ohne Konvertierung zu lesen) Edit: Vergleich auch hier Last edited by Pulp; 10-23-2008 at 01:02 PM. |

Das Sony mobi einführt wage ich zu bezweifeln, das Sony-format LRF ist Sonys eigenes format und sie hätten natürlich gerne, daß alle Leute im Sony-shop einkaufen (wo die Bücher als LRF und nicht als mobi zu bekommen sind - würden sie mobi zulassen könnten die Leute auf andere ebook-stores zurückgreifen.
Abgesehn davon unterscheiden sich LRF und mobi nicht gravierend in den Möglichkeiten. mobi wird nur von viel mehr Readern unterstützt, als lrf. |

Ich hab mein Cybook seit dem Ende des Sommers, ich habs gerade rechtzeitig vor meinem Italienurlaub bekommen und mit Aquapack 2 Wochen lang am Strand "eingeweiht".
Mittlerweile hab ich ca 30 Bücher mit gelesen und bin vollauf zufrieden - obwohl ich es zum alten Preis gekauft hab und nur ein Monat hätte "warten müssen" um mir 70€ zu sparen hab ich es nicht bereut. Davor hab ich diverse Palms als ebookreader verwendet - meine Augen danken mir den Wechsel Ich glaub das sony-reader sowohl lrf als auch epub unterstützen, für genaueres mußt du dich aber an Besitzer eines Sony-readers wenden. Soweit ich weiß plant bookeen epub-support, aber bis das soweit ist gilt es wohl nicht als Argument Trotzdem sollte es nicht schwer sein von einem Format auf das andere zu wechseln, es gibt converter in nahezu jede Richtung (mehr oder weniger einfach), Calibre für Sony kann mobi-files direkt zu lrf-file machen. Umgekehrt gibt es die Möglichkeit mobi-files in html-files zu wandeln, und von denen kommt man in so gut wie jedes andere Format. Ich versuche alle meine Bücher als html-versionen zu behalten um auf der sicheren Seite zu sein und weil es Änderungen und Ergänzungen viel leichter macht. Glückwunsch. Darf man fragen, wo (justread.de oder ev. in einem der UK-Bookstores)? Wie sind die Lieferzeiten?
Ich liebäugle auch mit einem Reader, kann mich derzeit aber noch nicht so recht zwischen Cybook und Bebook (Hanlin v3) entscheiden. Ab und an will ich nämlich auch ein PDF im (Klein-)Oktav-Format von Google-Books lesen. Vgl. auch meine Frage im Kaufberatungsforum. (Ansonsten erstmal ein paar Projekt-Gutenberg-Klassiker bzw. Sachen aus der Digitalen Bibliothek ) Aber der iLiad ist mir eindeutig zu teuer, vor allem zu schwer und hinsichtlich allen dessen, was ich über den Support lesen konnte, zu unsicher. Viele Grüße! |

So wies aussieht dürfen wir auch noch mit einer Vorweihnachtsübberraschung in der Form von Ordnerunterstützung und PDF-textreflow rechnen! cubisticus, seit dem letzen Firmwareupdate lassen sich PDFs im Querformat auf dem Cybook recht gut lesen (auch ohne text-reflow) |
