How do you remove a series and series #

I've entered in error a few series entries.

Alas, I can replace them only with a " ", but not get rid of them or the #. How do I fix it?

Try the following:

right-click on each item and select Edit Metadata

From here you should be able to delete the series and the series number. I know I've done this before.

You may even be able to select more than one file and edit in bulk but I'm not entirely sure.

Highlight the Series name. Press the delete key
Save

Don't worry about the series number. It gets suppressed/deleted because series is blank

This is not true. If a set of books are in a series (say 1-5) and you remove the series the 1-5 get grayed out but are still used to sort the series column.

I ran into this on a few occasions. I had to enter a fake series, set the number to 1, then remove the series to get things to sort right.

You have a series called (space character), possibly? (NB Recent Trailing space bug fix will probably stop this)

Calibre Windows, the series is blank in the library view, where it counts

Just tested on Ubuntu Karmic, Calibre 6.13. Deleting the series name and the library shows nothing in the series column.
