Any ideas what CHM support means?
I just can't figure out... |

CHM files are compiled "Windows Help" files. It's a format used for quite a lot of technical books.

Thanks HarryT!
My question was actually to find out how can I open CHM files with Mobipocket reader. All of my CHMs has an X icon and do not seem to work on the iLiad. |

They need to be converted with the mobiipocket desktop reader and then copied to the iLiad.

If you haven't found out already. The developer package is now available for the sw release 2.11. Shell access, hooray.

Oh, 2.11 is installed, shell acces of course, too.
Time zone switcher is nice. Attention: Please remove your CF just for safety before downloading the update. Some iLiads [my one, emkay's] didn't boot [no moving prgress bar] when the iLiad reboots after finished download. I got a nearly heart attack, because my iLiad didn't boot. This has happened: After the download my iLiad restarted, but didn't boot [progress bar didn't move]. Ahh!!! Because iLiad wanted to load/reflash whatever from the inserted not prepaired for reflashing CF card. I removed CF card, nothing, still no progress. Then I waited 15 minutes, still trapped, no progess. I got panic. I reset my iLad and hoped all will be fine after turning it on again; my iLiad booted, I got the "updating software" screen. Yamp. Uhh, this was close. I hope that this doesn't happen on all iLiads with inserted CF card. [-> not all, but some] [EDIT I]: Only I had a problem, who knows why. This seems to be a private scenario. [EDIT II] Mmmh, I am not alone: emkay had the same problem. Odd. Last edited by yokos; 09-28-2007 at 06:41 AM. |

This is odd. I had severe moments when all seems to be very despaired.

Same thing happened here, progress bar didn't move. (CF card was in.) I just reset it without taking the CF card out, and it booted up ok after that.

I had this kind of problems with previous upgrades. Cause: CF. It might be the brand/chips/controller/whatever of the CF having the effect.
I am now using a 1 gig MMC card, you know those small ones for cellphones? I have it for the Iliad, it does not noticably degrade batterypower and all reboots work fine. (and a nice CF available for reflash and such hehe) |

And I thought it was a known fact?
Upgrade the iLiads firmware - fully powered and plugged in - with all external memory / cards removed - reboot manually if the device did not do it by itself - connect again to get the updated manuals (if any) - reinstall all community supplied applications I am the first person to take a shortcut here, but it always got me into some or another trouble... Recently I stick to the above route and all goes well. Dirk Now waiting for a new FBReader port to resolve that registry / XML thingy before updating to 2.11... Sorry, I have not enough information collected here on MobileRead
or in the iRex forum to answer that question. I'd like to know the answer too, but it must be given by someone who tried... I restrain from upgrading to 2.11 for some more time. Dirk Now this looks promising... Last edited by DigiDirk; 09-29-2007 at 07:12 AM. Reason: Added link |
