2.11 is there!

No full-screen PDF viewer yet.
But extra functionality looks nice.

Fullscreen is a community project. It will hopefully make it into the next version.

Is the developer package working for those who updated to 2.11?

I think the best function of this update is:

Quote:
Select memory export to PC: Now you can select which memory ((Internal, CF, MMC, USB) to export to the PC via the USB connection.
No longer do you need a card reader to save files on external memory. Brilliant.

After update I no longer have shell access _ Perhaps I should have known this? I will re-request it. The new features are really good - calibration is a real enabler in taking useful notes ...

Is there any other way to get shell access for a device with iLiad software 2.11?

Nope, you'll have to wait for iRex to provide it.

I've been getting antsy, and was trying to find exploits in poppler just to get shell access , without any luck I might add...

I wonder why they couldn't make the "/mnt" part of the file system "visible" to USB? That way all the different parts of storage would be visible to a PC.

I think that it's a hardware issue. Possibly with the USB on the go chip. It was explained somewhere, but I have no idea where you could find it.

Thanks.

One question - after upgrading the operating system will I need to reinstall FBReader? I have it installed on a CF card at present.

Unfortunately, most of my apps will need to be reinstalled after updating including FBReader. However, you shouldn't loose any configuration or library settings.

There's a problem with the shell package for 2.11 though. If you rely on FBReader, I suggest you wait until that's resolved before you upgrade.

No, I don't rely on it - I do virtually all my reading on MobiPocket.

Just upgraded - very impressed with how smoothly it went! I love the fact that the device manager now shows you the amount of free space on each device - that's a very worthwhile improvement indeed.

Indeed I also upgraded but bye bye fbreader and all shell scripts.
And the shall request page is not present on myIrex anymore. Guess we have to wait a few days.
I can still read my PDF book that has 600 pages left...will that be enough?

Let's hope it won't take that long...or that you don't read THAT fast....

I'm glad iRex has managed to push this big update out. It makes the Iliad a bit better in a lot of ways.
iRex is actually quite cool...they plod along quite slowly, always delaying, always delivering only bits and pieces, but in the end they deliver, and even if there are some things (like the suspend mode...no...I won't get started on that again...don't worry...) that can't be resolved with firmware updates, the rest of the things on the "Most Wanted" list seem to be coming along nicely.

Thumbs up iRex. It could have happened much earlier, but at least it's happening!
