K2 2.0 unregistered

Hey guys,

first post here. I am somewhat confused and at a dead end so i though i would post here to figure things out.

So, i have a kindle 2 (US B002) that is registered on my Canadian amazon account but it shows as unregistered on the kindle as there is no coverage in canada.

as i understand from this post, i can register my K2 even though im in canada. what i do not get is how can i update my kindle without registering in the first place?

also, is 2.5.8 jailbreakable? or do i have to update to something else first?

Basically i want the most up to date jailbreakable firmware version on my unregistered K2 and i want to be able to register it while not in the US.

i am really new to jailbreaking kindles so any info would help.

so according to this post, i can update. but what should i update to in order to jailbreak after and register? i assume the only available update file from amazon is 2.5.8. if i update to that can i jailbreak?

ok so i figured out how to update it to 2.3. now can i update straight to 2.5.8 then jailbreak or do i update to something in the middle, jailbreak, then install 2.5.8 (and still retain the jailbreak)?
