(Actually that is a Wiki page, you could update it yourself, but KindleTool has to be updated to match - so we usually let NiLuJe (the KindleTool maintainer) update the table also.)

G090G5 is the Australian retail PW3-3G-4Gb of you want to add that too..

I purchased PW2 in store for its ability to be jailbroken .. they must have lost/sold it so they gave me a PW3 for the same price. .. it sits on flight mode now awaiting JB ;-)

Yes, we do.
Keeping the table current is not of the primary importance, it is the need to keep KindleTool current.

Since our add-ins that use the 'update_*.bin' format packages use the Amazon updater included in the firmware, they are also cryptographically signed and 'model locked'.

KindleTool is the open source application that both creates and unpacks signed packages.
If your device's model number isn't in KindleTool, our packages can not be created to load on your device.

If our packages will not load, why bother to jail break?

Yes, knowing about newly released models is important.

(O.T: We are getting a lot of new member attention in this thread, so I am covering a lot more background here than I normally would.
We need to keep our user's up to date also. )

Yes, we're gonna need all those gory details once the JB comes out, so thanks in advance, that'll save some puzzlement later on .

I don't remember Australia ever being singled out before, so, if anyone with an US or EU *3G* PW3 could make him-/her-self known, that would be great .

EDIT: And I see that someone added the EU variant to the wiki, great .

EDIT²: That said, I'm going to need someone to actually confirm that EU S/N, because that's not one of the expected ID number...

Did you confirm that it is already at 5.6.5 firmware level? I had to upgrade my KT2 manually to that level.

I just read this and could not believe it ! Great job !!!!

I am willing to experiment with my KV. It is on 5.6.5 and on Airplane mode. Bought in the US one year ago, on launch day actually, using it with a German account.

Hi! What is better for using this "future method of jailbreaking" - FW 5.6.1.0.2 or FW 5.6.5? Now my KV is on 5.6.1.0.2 and in airplane mode.

I would definitely upgrade to 5.6.5 now and then switch to "Airplane Mode" if I were you. I don't know if Amazon has done this in the past, but I would think it possible they would make the 5.6.5 unavailable once they have a "fixed" version available and you would miss the opportunity to take advantage of this situation.

They may not be able to revoke it if you have already installed it, but I would imagine that since the update files are on their servers that they could replace the current ones with patched ones. So even if I didn't want to install it now I would download a copy of the current file before they have a chance to replace it.

Updates have disappeared in the past.

In fact, the ability to download anything other than the current update is 110% under Amazon's control.
