Accent problem with rft to epub

Hi,

I am trying to convert an .rtf file that has some accented letters.
However, the epub output replaces the accented letters with some unknown characters which appear as ? on my reader.

If I first save the rtf as html and then convert the html to epub everything is OK. The only problem is that html conversion takes x3 longer...

I tried changing the input character encoding but results are the same. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thanks!
html conversion time is much faster now.

Is there a way to convert directly from rtf and keep the accents? Why doesn't Calibre recognize the accented letters correctly?

If your rtf is declaring its encoding correctly, calibre should recognize them. It's hard to say more without loking at the rtf in question. Feel free to open a ticket and attach your rtf.
