Kno today revealed the price of its 14.1 inch single and dual-screen tablets at $599 and $899, respectively

The company also announced that it is now accepting a limited number of pre-orders for an initial shipment that is expected to be on customers’ doorsteps by the end of the year.

Very promising:

- 1440x900 resolution. High enough to view PDFs!
- Anti-glare film screen! Yeah. Finally somebody understands what reading is about
- Pen stylus, of course
- 6hrs advertised battery life. Would have hoped for 8-10, but can't have it all

The limitation of memory, 32GB and NO micro-sdhc card slot is a slight disappointment however.

The weight is also not particularly light at 1.2kg per screen, but considering the screen/size it is acceptable.

And the biggest FAIL of all: Only available in the United States.

Sigh.

Why let this faze you if you're interested? Use a mail forwarding or purchase service. Some will even cover extra shipping in the event that it has to be returned.

Insurance.
It is a very expensive piece of equipment. I would say it is a bit spooky to purchase it without the proper insurance.

It depends on where you live. As an Australian, I'm aware of mail forwarding companies such as http://www.shipito.com/ and http://www.comgateway.com/ . Then there are purchasing services such as http://www.priceusa.com.au/ which are considerably more expensive, but also cover contingencies such as shipping back in case of warranty claims. There might be services marketed specifically to your country too.

Out of those I've mentioned, I've used ShipItTo and have been happy with their service, but for something like this, I might consider using a more expensive service for better peace of mind.

Why they didn't add it? It's like buying notebook without SD/SDHC card slot but notebook has 200-500GB harddrive...

That's what everybody wants to build.

I'm waiting for the prices to get so low, that some big company will distribute the readers for free, just to get the delivery channel to millions of customers.

Then they just overprice the content.
