Oh Joy! There was a cancellation! Off to get a root canal at 2:00 today [it was scheduled on Wednesday] - spent the weekend eating through a straw!

I'm at the holiday cottage. It's really nice (recently redecorated). I've just unpacked most stuff and I'm now getting ready for a night curled up on sofa with a fleece blanket, a fire in the fireplace, a nice cup of tea, snacks, tv and my Kindle. Between now and tomorrow morning it should snow a couple of centimeters.
I've also brought a tub of birdfeed (peanuts and sunflower seeds). Just after I arrived I put a couple of handfulls on the table outside and it immediately attrackted a lot of birds! Hopefully there are squirels here, too. |

I remember when I went to the botanical gardens in Dublin the girl who did the tour told us that at one point the got help from the army getting rid of black squirrels who are endangering the red squirrels. They still have problems because a lot of black squirrels live in the neighbouring cemetary. I just discovered that they also have BBC 1 and 2, in the other park they didn't have those channels, which I watch more than Dutch tv channels, so tomorrow I can watch Death in Paradise (cozy mystery set in the Carribean) |

Right — I'm off to get dinner*. (That is, my main meal of the day, which in my case is around 6.30pm). *In England, dinner can be eaten at almost any time from noon to 9pm, depending on who you ask! |

Rumpelteazer - It sounds like you are all cozy and set for a great vacation. Have fun.
WT Sharpe - I like that frame on Florence's art; leather right? kennyc - what a great gift from your son and it sounds like it was an even better outing with the kids. pooh - yay! I hope all went well at the dentist. desertblues - I cleaned out a lot of pbooks when we moved, but didn't get a lot of money for them. We had a lot of used book stores in my area and most just wanted to give credit instead of cash. Once we moved down here, my son and his girlfriend hosted a garage sale for me and sold off about 400 books at 1-2 dollars apiece. I couldn't believe she asked for and got that much for all of those - mostly children's books. I am glad you are able to get cash for yours. Right now, I am deciding what I want to eat and waiting for a fresh cup of coffee to brew. The ice still hasn't melted outside and I would really like to stay curled up at home today. |

Contemplating snow. Our first real snow of the winter. Only a couple of inches so far. Enough to look pretty but not enough to really mess things up.
