Kobo Touch, no default mobi support?

Hi.

Just bought one and i was transferring a load of mobile files, but Calibre want to convert them to Epub, when the Kobo Touch supports Mobi.

I found out how to edit the Kobo Touch plugin to add Mobi support, but could you add default support in your next Calibre update.

Thanks for all you Efforts , Calibre is the BEST

John.

Kobo Touch supported formats in the link below if correct.

The kobo touch identifies itself in the same way as all the other e-ink kindles, which do not support azw3. Not to mention that the touch will only support azw3 if it is running firmware >= 5.1.

Kovid,

You misunderstand the OP's post. He has a KOBO Touch, not a KINDLE Touch.

What he's saying is that - in theory - the Kobo supports DRM-free Mobi in addition to its main format of ePub. However, the Mobi support is apparently extremely poor, so Calibre's decision to only send ePub to the Kobo is probably the right one.

Damn, the Touch trumped the Kobo Yes, the Kobo's MOBI support is very poor, which is why calibre does not send mobi to it by default.

I bought the Kobo Touch, because of the dual epub/mobi support, it`s going back if it will not support mobi correctly.

Thanks

John.

You can Tick; Mobi in the Device output Plugin setting and try it for yourself.
(Remember to remove the tick if you are unhappy with the results )

I mentioned that in post 1

Well Mobi support seems to work, I can change font, line spacing, paragraphs, it`s a bit slow, but it looks OK.

Thanks

John.

While mobi ebooks work, I usually convert to epub before reading. I find these work better and the tools for making tweaks to them for better reading.
