- 2 Book Title 2
- 3 Book Title 3
- 4 Book Title 4

When I add new book with exists id i get this:
new book - Book Title 5 with id 2

FWIW Calibre has a field named 'ID' . you can use {id} any place the template language is used. This is the number shown after the title (if you peek under the skirts) in the Library folder.

This number also can show in the details section

You might want to choose a slight variation on the name, so there is no confusion on which ({id} or {#id}) ID you are talking about

No.

Each book get a unique {id}, an incremented integer, larger every time you add a new book. The name of the book is either set from the filename or from metadata in the book.

You can't change {id}, and it is usually not even displayed.

You might be able to do much of what you want with a custom series column and the manage series plugin. The series name would be the ID group and the series index would be the ID. You would use the plugin to renumber them.
