Douglass, Frederick: Life and Times of Frederick Douglass (Illust.) v1 16 Mar 2011

Frederick Douglass was a prominent abolitionist, author and orator. He was born a slave, but escaped at age 20 and went on to become a world-renowned anti-slavery activist. His three autobiographies are considered important works of the slave narrative tradition and as classics of American autobiography. Douglass's life as a reformer ranged from his abolitionist activities in the early 1840s to his attacks on Jim Crow and lynching in the 1890s. For 16 years he edited an influential black newspaper and achieved international fame as an orator and writer of great persuasive power. In thousands of speeches and editorials he levied an irresistible indictment against slavery and racism, provided an indomitable voice of hope for his people, embraced antislavery politics, and preached his own brand of American ideals.

We're in the middle of Hurricane Irene and I live in Zone B in New York City, so I haven't much time to visit Mobile Read. I just wanted to tell you, Alex Bell, that I'd settled in for the coming storm, and was looking at your four editions of Frederick Douglass, when I found myself blown away by your formatting and editing. The texts seem clean, the font is gorgeous, and the impression your work makes overall is quite professional. Thanks for making these books available, but thanks, too, for your perfectionism. I'll be looking for other editions by you now that I'm familiar with the quality of your work.

From what I can see the only typeface declaration in the epub file is: font-family:sans-serif;

Therefore whatever program or device you were reading it on is the one to provide the gorgeous typeface. Other ereaders and epub viewing programs might not be so charitable.

Thanks, Prestidigitweeze, you've made my day.

I hope you got through the hurricane without too many problems.

I've done three other books by Frederic Douglass, and you might like Running a Thousand Miles for Freedom by William and Ellen Craft also.

As always please let me know of any errors or typos so that I can fix them.

As shall1028 mentions the praise about the font is undeserved, but I'll accept the rest.
