Free (Kindle) Buck-Naked Faith: A Brutally Honest Look at Stunted Christianity

Buck-Naked Faith: A Brutally Honest Look at Stunted Christianity
Author(s): Eric Sandras
Publisher: NavPress
Price: FREE

Free from Sept 5-12

Take off your designer, postmodern phoniness. Strip off your pretty-sounding words. Get your faith naked. Honest and gritty, Eric Sandras encourages a generation of believers to drop the layers of make-believe nonsense that stunts our spiritual growth. What emerges is a positive alternative to life-crushing counterfeit faiths many of us are trying our best to work through. To do this, there’s no secret handshake or magic formula, but there is vision and encouragement to take the risk and get dangerously real with God. He exposes the naked truth: We need to dress our lives with a real friendship with God and nothing else.

It's a terribly bad scan of a paper book. That makes it hard to read.

May be why it was quickly pulled on Kindle. Hope the epub was a better edition.

Even though it's free they wouldn't process my order without a US address.

Actually, I don't have a USA address and can still order at B&N. I was living in Bolivia and that seems to qualify also. Have you tried your Tasmania address?

LOL some pretty horrible artifacts from the conversion process. Is that an actual Kindle font (looks almost like stenciling), or images of words or letters? I mean, the text scales and wraps, but sometimes half a letter will be separated by a wide space from the other half of the same letter.

Having said that, it's good reading and as I got immersed in it, I stopped noticing the terribad characters.

Topaz books don't use a built-in font, every character is shown as a scanned font image (one reason the files tend to be much larger).

Stupid to have a topaz file at Amazon, if they have a clean epub that could be converted in about 5 minutes (even ignoring any tweaking, the result will be better than a topaz doc in most cases).

Stunted ?

Now is that a result of evolution or creationism ?

I ran into some problems looking it up at Amazon. The two links earlier in the thread got 404 errors; a search turned up the paperback ($12.99 new; used copies start at $.01 + shipping) and a *separate*, not listed with the other, Kindle edition--with a publishing date of today. (Digital list price $9.99; currently marked down to $7.99.)

The author page for Eric Sandras lists two books (Buck Naked Faith & Plastic Jesus) in paperback only; no Kindle editions.

I suspect the Kindle edition is a bootleg that keeps getting pulled.

Also: the B&N version lists the author as "PhD Sandras," not "Eric Sandras, PhD."

Not necessarily. Comments above have mentioned that it's a poorly formatted Topaz version which I don't believe self-pub people using DTP could even make, and Amazon will sometimes yank a title even mid-promotion if they get enough complaints about the formatting.

This happened to me once when I contacted CS about a non-indie book which was part of a time-limited "event" sale for a significant number of non-typo dropped spaces between words and sent in a list of locations where said errors occurred in the hopes that would get it fixed sooner.

They pulled the book immediately claiming that was standard procedure for them and didn't bother putting it back until the sale was well over. Still no idea whether they've bothered to fix the missing spaces because they didn't notify me like they said they would, but it's back in their catalogue.

Well, that's B&N for you. Apparently they've also made "improvements" to the My Nook Library function which are nothing of the sort.

Anyway, it's also free @ Sony (available to Canadians).

Thanks, but no. I'd jumped through so many hoops by then that I lost interest.
