NBCNEWS is reporting it as record-breaking:
http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/gadgets/...record-n311941 They, too, were impressed by the watchband and are curious/suspicious of the screen tech. Quote:

Now at $6.6 million.
31 days left. How about a game for the final total? What do you guess? |

Well, they only have 3,982 at the $179 level (1 watch) and 3,625 at the $338 level (2 watches). That's just under $2 million. Once those are gone, the next levels are 5, 10, and 30 watches. Not many people will buy that kind of quantity.
Question - are they allowed to increase the levels for 1 and 2 watches? |

Maybe its me but I just dont get it. Maybe because you still need the Phone with you for the device to function. Or did I miss something?

Easier to use than your phone during activities like lifting weights or swimming. It is also nice if you carry a large phone. Say you have someone who only talks on the phone four or five times a week, but plays games, reads books, listens to music, and watches video on a large phablet. They don't want to wear a Bluetooth headset all the time, but a smart watch can let them control their music or check incoming text messages without getting the phablet out. This is particularly useful in winter, when it may be in a purse, in a brief case or under several layers of protective clothing. |

In less than a day, it's moved up to 3rd place behind Coolest Cooler (1st) and Pebble v1 (2nd). It's currently at $8.8 million and climbing.

Digikey says that the Sharp model number listed on that page belongs to a color screen:
http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...H01-ND/5054065 The size and resolution match what we know about the Time's screen, so I think that's it. |

"Transflective panel of white and black" and "1bit internal memory for data storage within the panel I really think that's the existing pebble watch's display. |
