Finally took the plunge
Took a trip this morning to Waterstone's on Piccadilly and treated myself to a shiny new PRS-505. Got it home and all set up and used the points I earned on my Waterstones loyalty card to get a couple of ebooks.
I've just finished reading The Seven Words You Can't Say On Television by Stephen Pinker, and although the ebook appeared to have a few minor formatting issues (which are nothing to do with the device) I'm completely sold on this gadget - the screen is absolutely superb and after a few pages I completely forgot I was using the Reader and just concentrated on the book, which of course is the whole point. I suspect this device will be a constant companion, both for reading at home and on my journey to and from work. |

Congratulations on your new purchase.
I feel as if I know exactly how you feel about ebook reading. They're incredible, aren't they - the books they can hold, this whole idea of having hundreds of titles at your fingertips and to read (almost) whatever is available at any one instant. For me, I read more than one book at a time, and having an ebook reader is now an essential part of my reading life. Have fun with your new device. Don |

If you have to travel on the tube in rush hour, it's brilliant - far easier to read one handed whilst tstanding up than a pbook
And you don't need to worry about the bookmark falling out when you hastily shove it in your bag because you've just got to your station without realising... |

I got a 505 back in January and feel about it the way you do yours. In fact, the four hours I had to wait for it to charge up was like four days. I couldn't wait to start reading

Congrats on your new reader. After 6 months I can't do without mine now.
It might interest you to know that WHSmiths ebook store is heaps better than Waterstones. The search engine on WHSmith is a welcome relief after the hopeless one on Waterstone not to mention the prices are better at WHSmith. |

Thanks for the congrats everyone. Did some more reading last night and this morning and I still can't get over how book-like the whole experience is and how much neater my bedside table is with only one slim device on it rather than a tottering pile of paperbacks.
The only slight downside is that I find myself increasing the font size to Medium - the need for reading glasses can't be too far away |

Used my new Reader for the first time in the wild today on my way home from work. It certainly made waiting for the tube and the journey hoitself go quicker. And I felt terribly high-tech reading off a screen. No admiring glances yet, but I'm sure that's only a matter of time
