Standby vs. not

Coming from a Sony I was a little disappointed with the Neo's boot time and the battery consumption in standby mode.
So last night I disabled automatic shutdown as well as automatic standby and just let the Neo lay switched on.
This morning (ca. 8 hours later) the battery had gone down one bar compared to two bars for a similar period in standby mode.
This was not a scientific experiment by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems that standby uses just as much if not more power than normal operating mode. This doesn't seem right to say the least ...
With switching of Wacom and other background service in standby mode there should be some potential for battery saving?

Neo goes VERY fast from 5 bars to 4 bars, quite fast from 4 bars to 3 bars. But very slow from 3 bars to 2 bars and from 2 bars to 1 bar. How many bars did you have before and after the two experiments?
Also - sometimes Neo goes back to more bars even during reading.
What firmware did you use?

I started with 5 bars both times and I have the latest firmware. I noticed too that the measuring is a little erratic, with the battery symbol changing between 5 and 3 bars; but I expected the Neo to be almost empty when not switched off.
I guess it means that I don't have to bother with standby for now.

I don't have a Neo but a Boox, but the firmware is just rebranded and the hardware is the same, so I guess I could tell you what's my practice. After finding that standby drained too much battery (and usually at the wrong moments) I decided to switch my options to switching off the device eith manually either after 5 minutes. Since then, I'm a happier user
