PRS-500 not recognized by Calibre

Send to device fails with device not connected error.

Advanced Debug info shows device is detected, but Calibre is unable to open and use it. Do you have any ideas?

Do you have the new Epub compatible firmware? I think the latest versions of Calibre only work if that is installed on the PRS-500.

If this is the old (non-epub) firmware for the 500 then Kovid says to stick with 0.6.29 which you can find here.

No work is currently being done to maintenance non-epub firmware driver. It is slated for removal in the 0.7 series.

Well I could care less about epub if its going to whack my battery life. NOTHING is more important than battery life its one of the primary points of these devices.

Can you rig is so we can assign a MEMORY CARD as a device? ie tell it THIS memory called "Sony Reader" (thats what I name my memory card) is a PRS-500 ?

6.29 still gives me the reader not connected error does not see the prs-500 for some reason.
