Sony reveals Connect Reader software update at CES
We have received word that Sony has been showing off a Connect software update at this year's CES. Other than Howard Stringer's indication that there will probably be another Sony Reader model in the future, it may be the best evidence so far of Sony's ongoing commitment in that product space.
Reportedly, Sony has talked about the following enhancements for the Connect Reader desktop software: * Connect Reader will allow for a two page whole screen viewing of books * Connect Reader will work with Vista * Connect Reader will have a "Eject Button" to allow you to feel better about disconnecting the Reader from the Software No word on when it will be available, but with the initial success of the Reader, and ongoing signs of Sony's commitment to the Reader, hopefully we can look forward to more enhancements from Sony in the years to come. In other Sony Reader news from CES, they are apparently also displaying the Great Point/Lightwedge flexible neck clip-on light that should appear soon at their web site. |

Heh, that's definitely good news. But I hope they'll also take a closer look @ the Reader software itself and bring an update for it soon (how about a simple search function?).

The eject button will be a win, my wife is still nervous every time she goes to unplug and sees that screen saying not to unplug it.
The Reader is re-teaching her bad habits for her iPod, that I spent 2 years un-teaching her. The fix I'm waiting for is the application of the iLiad fix to the PDF Viewer in the Reader. I'm still pondering how Sony and iRex could both make the exact same mistake with out there being some out-sourcing going on... |

Take a look here:
http://download.sony.com/prs/notices...otice-info.xml It's not downloadable (yet), but it says Sony CONNECT Reader V1.0.01.21150.test, whereas the one that ships on CD is V1.0.00.20310. |

Thanks, TadW -- I keep forgetting about that site, but that's okay, 'cause you always seem to remember it.

It does support them, though right now making LRF books with embedded fonts is a little complicated.

Hi, thanks a lot your replies.
Will Sony Reader natively support Asians fonts in TXT or RTF documents? |
