Glad you said "most". His early works are good. Before he got into that weird stuff.

My suggestion is to burn the "Dune" series......and the author.

I'll agree with you about the "Dune" series written by Brian Herbert and that other guy.

Deus Irae. It should have been a masterpiece, coming from two amazing authors, Zelazny and PK Dick. It wasn't garbage but I did not enjoy my first reading years ago, nor my second reading recently. Probably just me. I give up, lol.

I liked Deus Irae fairly well, but it was not my favorite Zelazny book, and I'm still working my way through Dick's bibliography. Oftentimes 2 great authors don't make for a better book than 1.

Fred Hoyle.

Our school thought that a good introduction to the sci-fi genre would be 'The Black Cloud'. Oh lordy. It was the worst book I've ever had to drag my way through.

I enjoyed the original Dune by Frank Herbert and was disappointed when Brian Herbert changed it to make it fit with his series.

Does anyone know where I can find an ebook of the original without going to the darknet? I bought a copy of Dune only to find it was the defaced edition.

Come to think of it, I should haunt some used book stores while I still have a good chance to find it.

I must have been sleeping and completely missed this. Do I understand you to say that Brian edited/changed the original Dune?!?

Obviously I haven't read it in years. My take -- I loved Dune. As conclusions to that story I liked book two and three, but I could see it if you said those weren't your cup of tea. Frankly, I could even understand if the original wasn't for everyone, but I loved it.
