While be First to Market? Sony or Astak?

This is just a fun poll to see who everyone thinks will be first to mainstream market with their 5" reader!

Both Astak and Sony have indicated that their products will ship at the end of AUG. Astak has been pitching it impressive looking EZReader Pocket Pro for some time, while Sony just recently leaked their PRS-300 Bomb last week.

I think that either reader would be a great addition to someone's gadget pile. This poll is strickly to predict who will actually ship first!

When I say mainstream market, I mean that pre-orders are filled, and you can actually find a device in a store if you get there early enough (or in the case of the more internet-sales-dependant Astak reader - the time from 'ordered to shipped' is a few reasonable days.)

Another words - Who will be first to supply the majority of demand?

So get in there and VOTE!

Hmmm... let's see. Will the majority of consumers opt for a device from the makers of the Playstation, TVs, hi-fi, cameras, cell-phones, CDs, DVDs, films..... Or for a Chinese clone from someone they've never heard of?

Gosh, that's a hard one to answer.

No disrespect to the Astak fan-club but can we keep things in perspective. The News and Commentary forum is starting to look silly with all these Astak threads.

My vote went to Sony. PocketPro may ship a few orders on time, but I bet there will be some delays until they get into steady release.

My wild guess is that the the PocketPro will be in and out of stock (short delays "place your order now!, and it will ship in 2-4 weeks") early on (the first six months).

I voted for Astak - Sometimes a smaller company can do things faster than a larger company.

Just look at Amazon with their Kindle - It was always out of stock until they finally got themselves squared away.

What do you mean "who WILL be first to market"? The Bookeen Opus - an excellent 5" device - is ALREADY on the market.

I don't care that much about a few weeks of difference. The question that for me matter most is which device will be the best 5" reader ; the PRS-300, the Opus or the PocketPro.

I'm betting on the Sony, followed by the Opus and then the Astak. This is based on quality of previous, existing devices and what we already knows (for the already released Opus).
