.ePub compatible?

Hello all

I'am about to decide about buying an ebook reader. For the moment my choice would be the bookeen cybook gen3.

However one thing still refrains me : I have not found on the web nor on bookeeb site the confirmation that it supports the .epub format.

Does anyone knows that?

thanks in advance

The standard firmware currently supports DRMed (encrypted) MOBI, and it has been widely reported than MobiPocket excludes all other DRM types from EInk devices that support its DRM. So the standard Cybook does not read ePub, and in particular does not support DRMed Adobe ePubs.

The german version of the Cybook includes mobile Adobe Digital Editions and so supports Adobe ePub and PDF ebooks. It does not include MOBI support. See Cybook Gen 3 with Epub support on Thursday and The german epub version of the Cybook.

Presumably, Bookeen will continue to support two sets of fimeware going forward, one with MOBI and the other with ePub/PDF. However, this has not been confirmed so far as I know.

It's worth noting that the current firmware, with DRM MOBI support, can read DRM-free PDFs too.

Also worth noting that you can always convert non-DRMed ePUBs with Mobipocket Reader or calibre on your PC.

Yes, but not very good. I have tried to read some books in pdf not formatted for the small screen and it has often been impossible to find a setting were it was convenient to read. So for reading a whole book the pfd readng functionality has been pretty useless.

I assume being able to re-flow the pdf will solve most of these problems.

If i were you, i would wait for the opus
Will have epub. Gen3 will have a firmware update. And should have better hardware than gen3.

Else, the sony psr-500 reads epub i think.

The underlined part is the wrong part. If the PDF is formatted for a small screen, it works very well.

Yes, but for all the books that had a correctly formatted version I could also find a mobipocket version. So the functionality that would be really useful is to read books that is only available as pdf and not formatted for the small screen.
