[Old Thread] PDF to Epub conversion (spaces between letters)
Why does this happen and how can I avoid it? Of course original pdf is on the right.

There's not really anything you can do about it, that's common with titles, as they're spaced in the source doc and pdftohtml is catching that.

Thanks for the answer. Normal text comes out weird too, as you can see. If I copy paste from Acrobat Reader to bloc notes, the text is fine. For example this is Calibre output:
"In q u e s t o r e m o t o e sconosciuto Paese si e r a costituito un I m p e r o c h e , c o m e q u e l l o R o m a n o i n O c c i d e n t e " that should be (just copied and pasted here, no editing): In questo remoto e sconosciuto Paese si era costituito un Impero che, come quello Romano in Occidente I just wonder if there's an option to force the converter to manage better the distance between letters. |

The problem is probably caused by justification. both-sides justification is sometimes done by inserting small spaces between letters. These small spaces are becoming full-sized, because unlike PDF, HTML does not have variable intercharacter spacing.
What happens if you tell calibre to use left justification? |

Check out this thread.
You may get better results by using
I haven't tried it personally but sounds like a good idea. |

Came across same issue. Use Adobe Reader to File/Save As../.txt and that will remove the extra spaces from the sentences. Then use .txt file as input to convert to desired format.
