Sony model confusion
Ever since I have been on this forum I have been confused about all the different Sony models.
At first I assumed that the higher the number the better, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a place that lists and compares all the different models? Like a chart of some sort would be great. I have Googled this on several different occasions and found nothing. in advance. |

This is the fourth or fifth generation of units. AFAIK it went:
1st - prs-500 2nd - prs - 505 and 700 3rd - prs - 300, 600, and 900 Current ones - prs - 350, 650, and 950 (these are the ones you'll find in the store.) ---dcross9818 |

Click "Wiki" in the site header, then go to the Sony Reader section. You'll see pics and specs for all the models.

On further consideration, the 700 might properly be considered the 3rd gen. It came out about year after the 505, and about a year before the 300, 600, 900 series. Making the current 350, 650, 950 the 5th gen.

There was also the Sony Librie from 2004 which was only available in Japan. The current generation would be the 6th.

Was there only one version of the Librie? It was before my time with ebooks and I know very little about that device.
I suppose one could consider my list with years to be the U.S. version of Sony Readers as some of the models were never offered outside the U.S. |
