Minstrel: the FLOSS hybrid reading app

Hello MobileRead community.

I am Alberto Pettarin, and I would like to introduce a project that is very close to my heart: Minstrel.

Minstrel is a reading app whose source code is available under the MIT license on GitHub.

The app, currently compilable to iOS and Android, is an hybrid app, based on the Cordova framework. While born to support EPUB eBooks (especially EPUB 3 Audio-eBooks), since v3.0.0 it supports other formats like CBZ and ABZ (and in a near future, things like PDF and Markdown).

My goal is to maintain and improve this free, privacy-safe, multi-format reading app geared towards power users, with the help of readers and other FLOSS developers, through a public and transparent development process.

You can find all the information about the project here:

https://github.com/readbeyond/minstrel/
http://www.readbeyond.it/minstrel/index.html
http://www.readbeyond.it/minstrel/developers.html

Let me be honest: the app is nowhere near to be "perfect" --- I am not an app/Web developer at all, and I am somewhat embarrassed by letting you see my poor JS coding abilities --- but I really think the value of this project is in its "independent" take on reading privacy and development process, and I firmly believe these values must be closely guarded in these dark times. More on this here:

I welcome any feedback, either on the app (UI design, code architecture, functionalities, etc) or on the development process. Either here or on the GitHub issue tracker. Feel free to spread the news.
