I have a new cat!
I ended up getting one of the Savannah cats I was looking at. I got him late last week but have been quiet about it to make sure he settled in and we were bonding. even though I wanted a kitten I fell in love with a 6 month old whose original "mama" was having a crisis and couldn't take him. he came with the name "Rafiki" which means "friend" in Swahili, cool, but just not right for him. I think he may be "Strider". we've been working on that and it seems as though he likes it, he is already responding to it.
my camera is giving me hell, and I can only send images from my phone when I am away from home. so here are some other Savannah's to give you an idea; the black is very similar to mine, the profile of the spotted cat gives a good idea of what they look like (black cats are just so hard to photograph!) and the big guy is honest to goodness his grandpa!!! his breeder took a video of him playing with her dog the morning he left. she tried to send it to me, but said it was too big. I suggested she put it on youtube. she'll ask her son for help later. anyway, meet Strider! (sort of) |

he's incredible. I've had cats my entire life and just on the little time I have had him, he has done so many different things!
lol! I already changed my handle once and lost a year's worth of karma and status! I'm sticking to this one. kindlekitten was a remarkable cat in her own right |

Ooooooh - grats on that beauty. I looked at them and I sooo want one of them. But so far no luck downunder.
Hope you enjoy him. And I'm sure those coyotes won't touch another cat after encountering him. |

Katti's Cat...I looked up the cat on Wikipedia, and it says this:
The Australian Federal government has banned the importation into Australia of the Savannah cat, as the larger cats could potentially threaten species of the country's native wildlife not threatened by smaller domestic cats.[11][12] A government report into the proposed importation of the cats has warned the hybrid breed may introduce enhanced hunting skills and increased body size into feral cat populations, putting native species at risk. The report states that the Savannah cats are not worth the risk.[13][14] So, don't get your hopes up too high! Kindlekitten...I'd never heard of this breed...OMG!!! That is one impressive beastie!!! My little Lily maybe weighs 6 Lbs (Our cat), and my Molly (longhaired Chihuahua) weighs 4-1/2 Lbs. All I got is 'WOW' |

You've got some tiny cats then, as our little one already weights 5Kg (about 11 Lbs) (I know because we went to see the vet friday ) And the big one is much heavier!
