The price drop is because the Nook Tablet is coming out later this year.

They are virtually identical: Minor cosmetic changes, added dual core processor, increased memory... .but other than that the same.. ......but hey....ya never know. oh and The Nook Tablet is not "besting it" -- it really depends on your needs. The Fire and Nook Tablet are identical as far as dual core processors. The Nook has an edge in internal memory and having an SD slot, but I've yet to actually need an SD card on any of my book readers or tablets, so it's a big meeeehhh to me. ...and mSD slot. Those specs easily justify the extra $50 for a tablet. Once the folks at Cyanogen root this thing, I'm getting one. I'll then give my NC1 away.

The other main difference of course is the infrastructure B&N vs Amazon and as far as I'm concerned there is no comparison, Amazon wins by a mile. But....to each his own, I hear what you are saying, can't say I agree but I hear it. |

I'm with you on this one. Though the fact it comes with netflix HD might imply it won't be as easy to root.
