Cannot edit init.rc

I am trying to edit init.rc.

But after rebooting the nook color, the changes I made are gone.

Any suggestions?

If you don't mind my asking, what are you trying to do?

Well, I rooted my 1.0.1 nookcolor using the original nooter method (not autonooter).

Then I installed a few additional apks, including the nook tools app from the autonooter image.

Then my nookcolor auto-updated to 1.1, which partially un-rooted my nook.

Now, adb is off by default again. However, I can use nook tools to turn adb on temporarily, so I can access the device, but it's a manual step every time and it only works while the nook's SD card is mounted on my PC.

So, I'd like to turn adb back on in init.rc.

Also, I don't want to use autonooter. I want my rooted nook color to be as similar to the stock B&N experience as possible, whereas autonooter seems to want to change and tweak many things. I get what they're doing, but it's not what I personally want.

Perhaps you should try ADB Wireless. It's free.

Thanks for the suggestion.

This init.rc thing is driving me crazy, but I should probably just put it aside for now.

This looks like it'll work out for me. Cheers!
