Copyright Corruption Scandal Surrounds Anti-Piracy Campaign

Anti-piracy group BREIN is caught up in a huge copyright scandal in the Netherlands. A musician who composed a track for use at a local film festival later found it being used without permission in an anti-piracy campaign. He is now claiming at least a million euros for the unauthorized distribution of his work on DVDs. To make matters even worse, a board member of a royalty collection agency offered to help the composer to recoup the money, but only if he received 33% of the loot.

The best rebuttal to that is John Lennon (who along with the Beatles, helped popularize the concept in the West).

What exactly did he do to deserve to get gunned down by a madman?

Beyond that, this doesn't involve anything random happening - this is a case of the wronged party being smart enough to know that bad press is about the only thing that can shame shady companies like this, and getting them involved by having them listen in on the recording.

(The sad part is, in a lot of places in the US, like Illinois, recording the conversation would be illegal...)

It all depends on what form of karma you're discussing. It can be argued that his death was a form of punishment for actions in a previous life. Some believe that karma is like currency, finite and gets spent, and to those it could be said that the good experienced by Lennon far surpassed the amount of good he did to earn the karma.

Even if just by the more traditional view of karma, and looking at just that life, it could be that Lennon did bad things to earn the bad karma that caused his death, and those things just aren't public knowledge. For all we know, he struck a pedestrian, took off, and it was never linked to him for one reason or another. We only know one facet of his life, so can never say if it was deserved or not, by the karmic system.
