Exclamation Getting the Sony Reader in Europe...

Hey, I'm dying to get the Sony Reader, but I'm from Belgium...

Can any of you guys advise me a good online shop (preferrable US + possibility to pay with Visa/PayPal) that ships to Europe?

I thank you all in advance!

- Tim

Welcome to the "Reader club", Tim! Lots of us here from various parts of Europe. I'm sure you'll enjoy it - I've had mine since early December and it's a great device!

It should be approximately:

$300 for the reader
$ 40 for the shipment fees
Euro 70 (V.A.T + import Tax)

I got the response from the german "zoll" (="customs" in english??).
It's 3,7 % Zoll for the Sony Reader.
+ 19% Taxes

So that would be about 75$ extra
+300 € the Reader itself
+ around 45€ for shipping
==========================
420$
= ~ 325€

nice

Hmm, i asked the german Zoll too, and they said me that the Reader is a PDA and that there is no customs on PDAs, only the 19% taxes.

Shipping with UPS is 40 USD.

Hm...

I told them I would sort the Reader in the "pda"-group of devices.

But they told me it was "other electrical device -> other -> other -> other ... bla bla bla".

Meaning they couldn't sort the Reader into any existing category.

But maybe i'll be lucky and they finally sort it into "pda"

Hi.
I also got my reader here in Germany and only had to pay the 19% VAT but no customs. I had it transported by UPS and they did the customs declaration. They called me to ask what this Sony reader exactly is and I told them it's a kind of PDA. They had no objections and I didn't have to pay customs.

I got my Reader from bhphotovideo.

Delivery to Germany took only about 40 hours ( so not even 2 days) with "UPS Saver" (this is the cheapest they offer for german customers).

Incredible fast I think!

The german "Zoll" (customs?) charged me about 50€.

Mine has just arrived to Madrid (Spain) from bhphotovideo too. I ordered it last wednesday, but due to the 6 hour difference, it didn't shipped until thursday. It take only 2 work days, quite impressive. I didn't have to pay any taxes (UPS)
