Almost 30% of US sales for Larsson's latest were eBooks

From Kindle Nation Daily...

Quote:
Total first-week ebook sales for Steig Larsson's instant bestseller The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest amounted to nearly 30% of all units sold, according to a report today from Publisher's Marketplace.

The popular subscription-based book industry website's mid-day newsletter is reporting that "Knopf Doubleday spokesman Paul Bogaards says their internal figures show an approximate first week sell-through of 425,000 units--which includes 125,000 ebook editions."

Wonder if it would have done as well if it was an Agency priced book.

This is interesting, thanks for posting it. I notice that the novel is #1 on Amazon's bestselling print books as well as the non-free Kindle list.

With the hardcover going for $11.92 vs the Kindle ebook for $9.99, price can't be that much of a factor. Are we already to the point where, given rough price parity and the same first-day availability, 30% will choose to buy the ebook instead of hardcover? Interesting indeed.

I think it would have done well regardless of price. Most people who had read the second book, were hanging out to get the next installment.
This was one of those incredibly rare books that I was prepared to buy in print format as the e-book version was not available when it was released back in October.
