I understand.
Indeed, when using non-overlapping VLs there is no obvious point in attempting to preserving the context between VLs. However it would perhaps have been a nice feature to have while fixing newly added books. New books could be in the "Newly added" VL. By highlighting one and switching to All books you could quickly see what other books there are by the same author or in the same series. And what genres they are in and so on. Then edit the metadata for the new book, remove the tag "Newly added" and then switch back to Newly added for the next book. |

Why not just use Alt+A or Alt+S to see what books are by the same author oer same series?

Agreed, good methods. But my suggestion was mainly intended to make the tabbed view for VLs a little more useful and "friendly" for users with overlapping VLs. Like me.

A glitch with the virtual library tabs:
* Open a virtual library using a tab. * Select another virtual library with the drop-down meny "Virtual Library". The library is updated, but the tab is not updated. |

@DoctorOhh: unfortunately, I had to remove the centering code as it was causing problems when there are exactly a screen full of items to be displayed.
My method was a bit of a hack to work around the lack of this ability in Qt, so I guess it should not be too surprising that it caused issues. You will just have to live with the off center grid. |

Next up the shift - mouse click is funky. Select a book in the middle of the grid then hold down the shift key and click a book in the line below. See the extra books get selected in the top line?
This shift mouse for selecting causes all sorts of weird selections. |

Yes, shift selection in Qt is broken, it was reported and the bug report was ignored: https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-2593

Thanks for the response. I guess then all that is needed is a note in the manual or FAQ.

New build with the following changes:
http://download.calibre-ebook.com/betas/ 1) Fix shift clicking in the grid view 2) Highlight books that have been marked with the temp marker plugin in the grid view 3) Remove the centering of the grid view as it was causing other problems 4) A speed up in writing changes to the database, should be noticeable when making bulk changes to large numbers of books. Hopefully this will be the last beta build. Thanks to all of you for your testing. |

If possible, I would like you to add the option to hide the VL tab for All Books. This is not a tab I want exposed. It is a sloppy mishmash of finished and working books that I would prefer not take up a tab space.
Nice work on the shift click in the grid. |
