Last time translation language not remembered after reset (with some hacks surviving)

Had to reset my KT recently. To my surprise jailbreak survived (been able to reinstall launcher and xterm), as well as at least some of jbpatch (cover gallery button is still there and working perfectly).

There is a new minor nuisance however. Before reset, the translation option did remember the last language to which it translated, which was very convenient. Now it keeps translating from English to English which is kinda dull ; I have to choose desired translation language each time, and for me it is practically always the same (Russian, in absence of the Georgian).

Does anybody have experience dealing with this problem?

Check /var/local for things missing.
I seem to recall that some versions of the KT firmware have been reported to delete the files in that part of the file system tree.

Is this with the firmware version 5.1.2 shown in your profile block that is giving the trouble?

That certainly looks like it has a bunch of "stuff" in it.

After having time to think about this, I now am pretty sure it was the K4 (firmware 4.<something>) not the K5 that was altering /var/local.

Now there is one for the "tips and tricks" list for certain.

Hmm...
I guess a "tips and tricks" list would be a section heading on the "HowTo" index.
We don't have that section, so just add one to the page, the page TOC will automatically update when you save it.

I recall the mention of an identification field in the book format that Amazon uses. The field was referred to by an abbreviation that I do not recall at the moment.

That same field was being set to a non-Amazon value by non-Amazon publishers.

That is what I recall of the situation I am trying to describe.

Now my question / suggestion for further investigation :
Could this Amazon-field, or another Amazon specific field in the format be related to this translation selection problem?
Again, I don't know how you would list the books that have it and the books that don't - but there might be a connection.

Next idea :
Is the books that are "translation sticky" using the new KF8 format?
Or maybe the ones that are not "translation sticky" using the new KF8 format?
