Its been a while since anyone has posted -- time to get the chatter going again. I have so far resisted the eArc of Dragon in Exile, what do those who have purchased it think? Goodreads leaves me the impression it has a short story compilation feel with lots of PoVs.
The upcoming schedule for those that need a reminder: May15: Short Story on Baen.com June 2: Dragon in Exile August 4: A Liaden Universe Constellation, Volume 3. There is also an in-progress 16 chapter serialized posting of an old unpublished Shan and Priscilla novel on Splinter Universe. |

No, it's not a short story compilation. Yes, I liked it. A lot. I'm really looking forward to being able to re-read it in the final form, and also hoping that there is an Audible version of it.
Dragon in Exile is the first of 5 Liaden novels contracted by Baen. Which has already been supplemented by 2 additional Liaden novels under contract. This one loops in some key characters from Necessity's Child, so if you haven't read that, you may miss some nuances, but that isn't strictly speaking required. Yes, there is some PoV changing going on - it's a UNIVERSE, and story lines interact, diverge, overlap, and splinter. I didn't find it distracting or a problem. But I was definitely left wanting MORE. |

Dragon in Exile
A free Liaden story is up on the front page of Baen.com.
This is, of course, to celebrate and promote the newest full-length novel in the Liaden Universe(r), Dragon in Exile which is available for immediate purchase and download in a multiplicity of formats and without DRM of any sort directly from Baen's eBook site. I've read the eARC and liked it, a lot, and am looking forward to reading the final version which I downloaded a few moments ago. ETA: The Audible version of Dragon in Exile will be read by Kevin T. Collins and will be released on June 2nd, coinciding with the hardback release. Last edited by CRussel; 05-16-2015 at 08:13 PM. Reason: Added Audible version. |

Well, I went for the bundle this month. There were a couple in there that I didn't have and wanted, plus this one, of course. So worth it. Though honestly, Lee & Miller are on my "just buy it and don't complain" list. They've not ever disappointed me.

Well, I just finished reading the released version of Dragon in Exile. Excellent. Many plot lines are progressing along nicely. Probably the only one that doesn't have much change is Bechimo and Theo. And I'm left wanting MORE.
Speaking of more -- A Liaden Constellation #3 will be out July 16th, and the list of stories in it is:

Is is just me or are all of Lee & Miller's major works missing from Overdrive library lending? The novellas are there and Tomorrow Log but nothing else. Can anyone find them in their own library?

AFAIK no Baen published titles are available via OverDrive for any author. The ones you mention are all from Pinbeam Books their self pub label.

I'm still waiting (with a 75% off code in hand!) for "Dragon in Exile" to appear on the Kobo web site!
