Is there a forum for discussing books?
I know we have a book recommendation forum, but I'm looking for one where I can discuss specific books, with spoilers. Like an on line book club?
Thanks |

You can try just starting a discussion on a book, or you could check out the book clubs area to see what members are reading and contribute there.
Most of us end up over at GoodReads in some form for that sort of thing. There is a GoodReads groups devoted to the reading challenges and we toss books back and forth, but nothing like a long discussion of a given book. |

You could try Goodreads or LibraryThing.

Book discussions go on all the time in the reading recommendations forum. No reason a discussion can't include spoilers although I'd either use spoiler tags or make sure to mention spoilers in the thread title.

Exactly. The Dresden Files thread is full of spoilers (within tags of course) and discussion about the whole series.

Agree with AnemicOak and Pookeysgirl. There's no reason to not have book discussions right here on MR. The other mentioned sites are fine, but I'd like to see more stay here.

There is the book club forum. Every month a book is chosen to be read and discussed and as far as I know, the discussions are never closed. You can even suggest and participate in the selection of the monthly book.
Otherwise, I think most informal book discussions take place in the Reading Recommendations forum. The trick is to find a book that many people have read and can discuss. The book club discussions used to be in that forum too; it is very recently that it branched off. If you want to include spoilers, just say so in the thread title and people that don't want to be spoiled will know to stay out. |
