What is on screen in diag mode is also repeated on the serial port.

If there is a delay in getting the serial port hardware, then:
The diags mode is known to drain the battery faster than it charges - -

Open it up **NOW** and remove the battery to prevent it from over-discharging while waiting for the serial port hardware!
Thanks for explanation
additional question,to work via Kindle serial port i need to purchase cable like TTL-232RGVREG1V8-WE isn't it?

That is the one which I use, and that I recommend.

But anything will do - if it is 1.8 volt serial
Just be sure anything you find can be set to that level (most you find are either 3.3 or 5.0 volt).

Hi
Today i got a cable that you advised - TTL-232RGVREG1V8-WE
i connect it to Kindle board as following:
- TXD wire of the cable (ORANGE) to TXD foot on the board
- RXD wire of the cable (Yellow) to RXD foot on the board
- GND (Black) to GND

when cable is connected to PC its detects as COM4

in PuTTy i try to connect to device to via COM4,speed 9600,data bits 8,stop bits 1,parity none and flow control - none

as a result the window is opened but i dont see anything
i cannot write in terminal window

may be i miss something?
any advise

thanks

For some kindles, the GND connection on the serial port has been a problem.

Try an extra ground connection. For example, keep the USB cable connected between the Kindle and the host PC that has the serial adapter connected to it.

Devils advocate... Try another piece of software.
In the spirit of "Replace each piece you can to confirm it is not the issue"

My only thoughts.

Didn't I read hyperterminal could do the job somewhere? Should read up on this I suppose.
Anyways, In the event of bugger all else to test I would try that.

Reverse the two serial connections so that one device is receiving what the other device is sending:
Tx -> Rx
Rx <- Tx

1) Check your terminal configuration, should be: 115200, 8N1
See: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...40&postcount=4

2) check your ground connection.

Leave it sit in fastboot like that while the battery charges (may take a day or more).
Code:
Entering fastboot mode...
Battery voltage: 2699 mV
Any lower and you will be buying a new 4.2 volt Li-Ion battery.
