Bujold, Lee and Miller, and David Drake are great. Ryk Spoor is a newer author that has written some very solid stuff, both fantasy and sci-fi.
I think Baen really shines as a publisher of classic sci-fi authors. Poul Anderson is probably my favorite author, and Baen has published a lot of his work. James Schmitt is another classic author that gets overlooked that Baen has brought back to print. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of some of the ultra-right wing military sci-fi they publish, and that seems to be their bread and butter these days. |

I assume that by Baen author we mean anyone who has been published by Baen, not someone who is Baen exclusively.
David Weber is probably my favorite, currently followed by Larry Correia. Historically, Bujoid, Lackey and Pournelle have been favorites. Some of John Ringo's stuff I really, really like, others not so much. (He kind of reminds me of Stirling in that respect). I like some of Drake, but not all. |

Mostly the "older" names: Keith Laumer, Poul Anderson, A. Bertram Chandler, etc. Lately I've been filling in the gaps in my reading of the "classics."

Lee&Miller, Bujold, Moon, Weber, Eric Flint, Ryk E. Spoor, and Frank Chadwick. Ringo sometimes. But the first three, in that order, never fail.
