But if you want to swap from a sans to a serif or the other way round, you have to use the same font name and serif will work. It doesn't matter the type of font. It matters the name given to the font.

So just name all the fonts as serif and it will work for any of them.

I realize that. I just prefer to keep my font families/grouping accurate - particularly since I have epubs using "serif", "sans serif" and "monospace" font in just one chapter.
