No, Amazon doesn't use epub. If you're willing to break the DRM, then you can go ahead and convert it to epub yourself.

Have you tried Kobo, Booksonboard, Diesel for the epub version? (If there are other epub book stores I missed that sell nonfiction, I'm sure others will chime in).

You can download the book and remove the DRM. If you want to know how to do this, ask me. Then you can convert it to epub with Calibre. Amazon doesn't sell books in epub format at all (yet).

There are also a few ebook price search engines that will search the major sites for the books and compare the prices. Here is one, http://inkmesh.com/

Ditto what others have said, Amazon uses it's own format rather than epub.

Calibre has a Get Books feature (see attached) that will search and report back books and cost and allow you to buy it from whichever has the best price.

which is usually amazon !.

in fact , as an exercise, can any one name some e-books which are not cheapest at Amazon ???

...which is OK so long as mobi to epub plug ins continue to work, but one day I'm gonna buy a .mobi book with new, imporved DRM & be stuck with kindle for PC as my only reader!

as for inkmesh.com 1) prices are in USD, not my country, and when I tested it it failed to show kindle versions which I know are available at amazon.co.uk
