Removing Books?

There's an option to remove books, which seems to remove all formats of a particular book.

Is there a way to select which formats are removed? For example if I stick a .txt into Calibre then I'd like to remove that later once I have a .mobi created. Since Calibre ate my data I'm a little cautious about having it write to my device, so I prefer to have it save all the books and then I copy them across manually. It's a pain to delete all the superflous formats each time.

Under Edit meta information, highlight the specific format you want to remove in the upper right-hand corner and hit the trash icon.

You can add a new format for an existing book the same way, which is occasionally useful.

Slightly related...

Am I right in thinking the only way to get Calibre to add a cover image to a format is to use the convert function? It seems when I add it through editing meta information Calibre only stores the image separately, and will not "build" it into the file?

Edit : That solved the problem... I'm now able to remove the old formats. Thanks!
