Calibre and Kindle 2
I just got off the phone with Kindle support. I was having a wireless connection issue which they resolved by teaching me how to restart my device (duh!).
I had not had any connection issues until I installed and used Calibre yesterday. I mentioned this to Kindle support and she told me Amazon does not authorize any other E-book source except Kindle Store and Audible.com. My question is - do you think my using Calibre caused my wireless connection issue? The issue was that after using Calibre to transfer four or five books my Kindle would no longer connect to the wireless. No bars. No Kindle Store. Any opinions? Thanks! New to Kindle and E-books (as if you can't tell) |

Hi. I can't see how using Calibre would cause any connection problems as all Calibre was doing was basically copying books over from the Calibre folder onto your Kindle which is a basic programming command. In other words, Calibre wouldn't be using any code to mess with your Kindle connection. I believe it was purely a coincedence.
I do use Calibre myself and transfer books over onto the Kindle. I've never had any issues. If you are at all worried, just copy ebooks onto your Kindle manually. The Kindle should show up as an extra drive on your PC (usually f drive on mine) and you simply copy the books you want into the Kindle documents (correct me if I'm wrong) folder. Amazon have to cover themselves but loads of people here use Calibre. |

Thank you. I agree, I think it was coincidental.
Now... the other issue is I downloaded The Atlantic magazine through Calibre and my Kindle will read it for a few pages and then freeze completely. Requires reboot to clear the error. Happened twice so I deleted the magazine. Anyone else's Kindle 2 freeze on certain documents? |
