Yes there's a whole thread about it inappropriately called the "Kobo Aura HD Impressions thread".
Also you went to the casino to get some money to buy an Aura? And to think, I've been going to the bank all this time! |

I like it quite a bit, but wish the page turns were a bit faster. When timing it against my Kindle Touch I just about get two turns in the time it takes for one on the Aura. The screen is beautiful and although I'm still getting used to the overall 'look' of a 'page' on it it's nothing to complain about (just different). I've started using the extended drive to send kePub's to the device as I find I get a more consistent 'look' that way.

I rather like mine. I have the Mini for pocket ability, but the HD screen (and faster CPU) of the aura makes manga readable without converting it ahead of time - and the extra inch over the Glo means I can fit more text on the screen.
The big downside is the slippery back - even with the angled back, it's hard to hold on to one-handed, so reading is a two-handed affair, like with a larger hardcover. If it was the grippier back of the Glo or the Touch, it'd have been much better. If you need the SD card slot or graphics, it's worth it over the Glo or Mini. For one-handed use, the smaller screen of the Mini isn't a hindrance if true only reading ePub files. |

It is fast, page turns are super fast and touch screen very responsive. By far the best ereader I have used. Well worth the price. I do most of my reading in bed so the excellent light is a god-sent. I can't fault this ereader. The way ereader market is going, I think Aura HD is the best we are going to get.

Getting the Aura into my hands was a total pain, with the screwed up kobo website and living in the USA, but it was worth it. I like the screen, makes things much more readable. The ComfortLight makes the reader transparent so I can just enjoy reading.
I'm disappointed in the cbr, cbz implementation and pdf support is dodgy as heck. There's some glitches like picking it up sometimes wakes it from sleep, so does setting it down! I'll see what happens if my cheap sleep cover ever gets here from China! |

I love my Kobo Aura. It’s the best reader I’ve owned and well worth the price. The Aura has many innovations to make it best of breed. The screen gets all the attention so I’ll add my praise.
For me, the way Kobo is using the bigger, brighter, cleaner screen to implement the features of ePub3 make attractive book design a part of the reading experience for the first time in a book reader. This is something I’ve longed for. Amazon’s KF8 formatting has good potential but the Kindles lack the screen to implement it the way Kobo has on the Aura. I had some trouble with slipperiness at first until I put a clear skin on it. I got a Skinami from Amazon for around $17USD*. It eliminates the slipperiness and protects the surface at the same time (I didn’t put it on the screen though). Now I hold my Aura eReader nakked and I’m enjoying the lighter weight. Even though it has a bigger screen it ends up being lighter than my old Kindle Paperwhite with the added weight of its special cover. I’ve gotten so used to the shape of the back that holding a flat backed reader feels awkward to me now. I’m happy I got a brown one. It almost seems like Apple has signature white, Sony has silver, Amazon has black and Kobo has brown. Of course, this is my only Kobo and the Aura might be their first brown one, so I may be alone on this but that rich brown color makes me feel like I’m holding a book like no other does. I really appreciate how Kobo included an SD card. I put my Delphi Classics on the SD card (they don’t have DRM) because they are all complete works of classic writers and the files are huge. Nevertheless, with an SD card I don’t need to worry about running out of space even with a thousand classics on my reader. I have to say, I have no complaints about the Kobo Aura. None. *This is the skin I’m using if you’re interested: http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi-TechSk.../dp/B00CDB315K |

I picked up a Kobo Aura HD today at Indigo - so far, I'm smitten! It's great. I like it a lot more than I thought I would for reading. It won't replace the real deal for many books that I have (large architecture monographs, for example) but this seems to be a solid way forward for general reading!
I guess I got lucky, as I haven't yet experienced any issues that appear to plague other devices (dead pixels, creaking, rattling). Knock on wood, obviously... but right now I'm very glad that I made the decision. My only wish is that purchasing a physical copy of a book would get you a free ebook as well - I do love to have a real copy of the books I read so that I can lend out my favorites to friends and family, or just pass them along for others to enjoy. So for now, I am finding ebooks of everything I own through other means, and will continue to purchase real copies of books and seek out the ebooks the same way. I'm interested to see if the BitLit system gains any traction through the end of the year... apparently a number of publishers are taking it live throughout the summer |

I haven't purchased and Aura (yet ^^) but I got to test one today in a store. Here are my impressions (Vs. Kobo Glo and Sony PRS-T2, which I also tested).
All in all, I liked it and might still get one, despite the fact that it doesn't support Chinese... |
