It charges through USB, so you can plug it into your desktop or laptop and transfer files to it and let it charge, and then unplug it and take it with you. I believe that the literature says a charge is good for four hours of use, but I've never tested it. Rather than stream video from it (I mostly use it to store movies), I transfer the video to the iPad, and then watch it and delete it from the iPad. So I'm only using the battery on the GoFlex for a few minutes while I'm transferring it.

Sharing the same files between my devices is part of why SD cards are a nen-negotiable requirement for many of us. I can put the same micro SD in my phone, any of our PCs, any of our ereaders except the PRS-350, or the stereo in the car to listen to music, and can look at pictures on most of those, and read books on most as well. Yet in your world, an SD card does not accomplish that...curious. |

Good to know. I still think it is a bit expensive, but I'm counting on a larger size model appearing and then prich should go down to a more appealing level. |

Seems most efficient for fully-shared files to be synchronized with an automated cloud service such as Dropbox or SugarSync rather than manually copied from device to device using a memory card.

Also 100% useless to you if you don't have an internet connection. If I've got it on a card (or external drive, thumb drive, etc.) I never have to wonder if I'm actually going to have access to it when I need/want it.

Just for the record, devices with full size SDXC slots can now have an extra 256GB:
http://www.lexar.com/products/lexar-...?category=5286 Price will drop soon enough. My Asus TF700 with dock takes micro-SDHC and full size SDXC at the same time! Last edited by CyGuy; 10-03-2012 at 08:21 AM. |

They should also drop the 8GB version. 8GB these days is laughable without a mSD slot. |

Considering the latest games are over 1.3 gb + large these days u would not get much on one. Micro sd cards are only good for media on tablets. They simply wont solve all your storage problems as once you hit your internal memory max then there's no more Apps for poor Johny Last edited by darksaber35; 10-06-2012 at 11:40 AM. |
