Creating MOBI ebooks for Kindle using FineReader, Word & Mobi Creator
Hi all,
I bought a Kindle 3 recently (hurrah!), and thought I'd try my hand at creating ebooks. It turned out to be simple with the right tools. Looking at various threads in this forum I have no doubt there's a lot more to learn but for now I'll list the steps I took: a) Convert PDF ebooks to HTML (good input = good output) using ABBY FineReader. b) Edited the HTML in MS word 2007 to add page breaks at the end of chapters and cleaned up the opening pages a little. b) Used Mobi Creator to create a nice ebook The hard part is handling bad quality PDFs in FineReader Tips, tricks & advice is welcome! |

My main advice would be not to use PDF as your starting point: buy your books in a more "ebook friendly" format. PDF is a "terminal format" - it's not designed to be converted "from".
