I was unable to get plug-in to correctly search for 'books by selected author'
In this example, searching for author James Barclay, the log seems to indicate finding 7 books, but the plugin only reported one book and that is always the book/author highlighted for the beginning of the search. This library has 7 books available.

That behavior is by design. The menu choice to "Search for books by selected authors" finds matches for the selected books and also discovers books by the same author(s) that are not already present in your calibre library. In your case the selected book was found along with six other books, which were present in your calibre library but not selected for the search and so were ignored.

I thought it worked differently before... but OK.
So in this case I need to select all of my calibe books and let the plugin search my libraries.

No, you need to "Search for books by selected authors".

What you seem to have used instead is "Search for selected books".

Make sure you didn't accidentally choose the wrong one.

Freading has added infinite auto scrolling to search results instead of displaying them one page at a time. Release 1.12.3 of the plugin adapts to this change.

The auto scrolling doesn't seem to be working completely correctly at the moment, so another plugin release may be needed, depending on further changes at Freading.

I am unable to get OneClickDigital working. I believe this may be because the plugin uses the OneClickDigital.com domain but here in the UK the domain is OneClickDigital.eu.

So despite entering essex in the Library ID as here my library is essex.oneclickdigital.eu, this doesn't appear to work.

Would it be possible to cater for the alternative domain?

I didn't consider that case. I will fix this so that you will be able to enter the full host name, essex.oneclickdigital.eu, as the library-id for OneClickdigital in the next release of the plugin.

I have already made some other changes to the plugin, which I am now testing. I expect to have this out within the next week.

Added providers EBSCOhost, Hoopla and Scribd.

Allow non-US domains for OneClickdigital.

Preliminary support for audiobooks at 3M Cloud Library. (They are expected to become available in August 2014.)

Better support for multiple author books, such as collaborations and anthologies, with a configuration option to control how many of a calibre book's authors are used for searching.

Search by title at Freading for books with multiple authors since Freading doesn't always list authors for those books.

Improve book matching to handle the case of a series name being used as a prefix to book titles. (e.g.: Worldwar: In the Balance and Worldwar: Tilting the Balance)

Add more choices of searchable book format. When searches are done for only e-book or only audiobook formats then pre-existing links for the other type will no longer be removed.

Support the Amazon Product Advertising API for faster searches.

Include a count of warnings in the search completion dialog and add a configuration option to include warning messages in the search completion report.

Minor fixes: Reduce occurrences of reports of excessive library links and report them as warnings instead of errors. Create submenus for large numbers of book links. Combine metadata for discovered books from different library providers. Sort discovered books in search results. Increase pacing delay between Amazon queries. Fix minor bugs.

Sometimes when searching my whole library (I do that occasionally while AFKing) I get an error for some libraries: Search HADC for all by kim newman: Cannot perform search due to sign in failure

Really:

But it is the right info. It usually happens sporadically with >100 searches queued.

It's odd that the sign-in works sometimes and not others. I have not had that problem in my use of the plugin.

I will make a change to log the message OverDrive returns when the sign-in fails. That may be of some help to diagnose the problem. I will also add a plugin tweak (overdrive_link_ignore_login_failure = True) that you can enable to perform searches even if the sign in fails.

It may be a little while before I have time to make a new plugin release. In the mean time there is a plugin tweak in the current release that you can enable if you want to help diagnose the problem.

Under Preferences, Tweaks, Plugin Tweaks add a line with the following:

overdrive_link_save_responses_on_error = True

Then restart calibre. When this tweak is present the plugin will log the last response from the library web site to a file whenever an error occurs. The file will be saved in the working directory for calibre. The file name will be shown in the log of the search job.

For OverDrive sign in failures examine the file and look for whatever follows <section id="mainContent" class="eight columns">.
