When you say 'did that', do you mean my instructions in my last post or the quick overview in the post just following that?

And have you, by any chance, tried turning on your Cybook, waiting until it finishes booting, *then* plugging it into the PC and *THEN* turning on Mobipocket Reader? That way, the Cybook should be on and recognized by your PC *before* you enter MR6.1. At which point, MR should at least see the Cybook as an external storage device under the 'Devices' list. (On my system, it shows up as Removable Storage (N: ) when I have the SD card installed as well as an actual 'reading' device (Cybook (O: )). When the SD card is not there, it just shows as Cybook (O: ).)

Yes I tried it your way, I tried it with mobi on and I tried it with mobi off and then started the program. Does your cybook go to a connected screen when plugged in? Mine does and the library screen goes away.

Of course mine does. This is just the way things work on the Cybook.

Have you done the job of writing down the PID before plugging the Cybook into the PC?

Okay, try doing this:

1. Turn on the Cybook.
2. Get to the Cybook's About dialog and write down the PID.
3. Strip out and re-install Mobipocket Reader from a clean download from Mobipocket. (Making sure the version is 6.1, Build 585 or newer.)
4. Re-boot your PC.
5. Plug your Cybook into the PC. (Remember, your Cybook should still be on.)
6. Bring up Mobipocket Reader and get to the point where you can see the list of devices on the MR6.1 main page. You should-because you haven't registered the Cybook as a Mobipocket reading device-see it listed as some form of removeable storage.
7. Click on the 'Devices' option and bring up the reading devices page.
8. Click on the "Install new device" button and then on the "Other device" menu option.
9. What dialog do you get at this point? If you get the "Plug in" message, let me know. (And if you go into File Explorer with the Cybook plugged in (with an SD card installed, if you have one), do you see the Cybook shown as a removeable drive - with, if installed, the SD card showing up as the removeable drive listed just before the Cybook?)
10. If you get past the "Plug in" message, follow the instructions given by MR6.1.

I can't get it to register also. This is on Vista. I can see it as removable storage. When I select 'Install Device' it tells me to connect the device. When I click OK nothing happens.

I have build 588

I hope you are feeding your results back to MobiPocket. It is a beta and they need feedback to fix it.

*THERE'S* your problem!!! WinVista!!! Clearly this (the Mobipocket Reader update) works better under WinXP. That's what I'm using. No problem whatsoever.

I'm using Win xp and having the same problem as Ortep but what I'm doing is manually downloading the books and transferring them to the reader.

Also is there a setting that lets you display the page numbers? I've looked but can't find it.

I'm having the same "not active yet" problem as tcmoon. I downloaded a book from Boston Public Library and copied it over to the cybook (I'm using Linux) and am getting "This book is not active yet."

I didn't know the Boston Public Library had mobi format books. What's the link? I too use the BPL. Thanks!

I just found out about it tonight:
http://overdrive.bpl.org/

It looks like they mostly have Adobe eBooks, but there are some mobi ones in there too.

Does anyone know if they Cybook even has a clock in it? Could the problem be with DRM that triggers on times (library books for example)?
