If Chris is to find out what really happened, he needs to learn everything about his daughter… but he's beginning to realise he hardly knows her at all. The three books in the "Dominic Grey" series by Layton Green are all 99p for today only at Amazon UK today as a part of the Kindle Daily Deal. They are supernatural thrillers, each with some form of cult as its theme. Enjoyable nonsense if you like that sort of thing (which I do ).

The Scarecrow Murders by Mary V. Welk Number Four in the Caroline Rhodes series
Free on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Scarecrow-Murd...3021197&sr=1-6 It's a battle of the sexes in little Rhineburg, Illinois when Bruck University's fledgling football team butts heads with female rodeo riders during Halloween Homecoming Days. The Big Bad Bruins can’t believe it when Bruck President Garrison Hurst hires the Moore Sisters' Rodeo to perform in the school's new stadium the night before the homecoming game. The 3Bs—AKA “The Freebies” because of their losing style—may be lousy at football, but as country boys, they know what a herd of angry Brahma bulls can do to a grass field. Accompanied by every able-bodied man in town, they form a picket line outside Hurst’s office and raise their voices in protest. Will the president meet the team’s demands to cancel the rodeo? Not if Donna Moore can help it. Backed by an iron-clad contract and a smart lawyer, Donna rallies the women of Rhineburg in support of their cowgirl sisters. Marching with signs in hand, the women out shout and out maneuver their male counterparts, taking over the college security office and generally causing havoc on Bruck’s campus. Caroline Rhodes’ son and daughter-in-law take opposite sides in the argument—until a football player is found murdered in a rodeo bullpen and Martin Rhodes is named the prime suspect. Caroline looks to Professor Carl Atwater, Maddy “Mad” Moeller, and the ladies of the Rhineburg Boarding House and Home for Gentle Women for help in catching a clever killer. |

Deadly Readings by Laura Bradford
Free on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Deadly-Reading...3022851&sr=1-8 Originally published by Hilliard & Harris under the title “Jury of One,” “Deadly Readings” is the first in Laura Bradford’s debut Jenkins & Burns mystery series. The Jersey Shore has always been known for warm sand, lively boardwalks, and the promise of carefree summer days. This season the small scenic town of Ocean Point, New Jersey, is not nearly as carefree as tourists would hope. The discovery of the body of a young woman is the first in a string of seemingly random and senseless murders, murders connected only by a warning from the same boardwalk fortune-teller. It’s a crisis that puts local detective Mitch Burns on edge, and his job in jeopardy. It’s up to him to solve the crimes and protect the livelihood of the town, a livelihood that relies almost entirely on tourists. With the help of newly hired local reporter Elise Jenkins, the two step out to discover who the killer is, before another body is found. |

I remember it being £0.99 in the UK for ages (ie. when I bought it). Seems to be £2.99 at the moment, which is still less than the rest of the series. I got the second one cheap in paperback, and the third one in a recent sale, I think. I haven't read the third one yet. I was ambivalent after Roseanna, but the character grew on me with the second book.
