I expect that the advantages that pbooks have here will be reduced in future as ebook readers become more advanced.
Remember, the current crop of ereaders (and, really, computers in general) are extremely primitive devices. |

I think the OP is correct. Children learn through a variety of strategies. Teachers are going to use everything at their disposal to make the most of a child's learning.
Young children don't understand abstract concepts. The idea that an individual "book" is somewhere in the device is a leap of conceptual reasoning that it would be foolish to present to a young child learning to read. Why make things harder for you and them? Spelling strategies in primary schools include making words out of matchsticks, plasticine and alphabet cards. It's a kinaesthetic strategy. Even older children benefit from these activities. The question isn't: Could you teach a child to learn on an ereader? It's: Why would you? |
