http://www.wymacpublishing.com/latest5imprint.html (checking their full list of imprints, I easily found at least one masquerading as another, larger imprint, so I assume the authors make them up, just as they do under KDP, and don't bother checking them against already established publisher names). |

But, I personally also like to see self-pubbed ebooks that continue a previously established/published series that I like. I guess my tastes don't always run in touch with what sells enough for a major publisher to keep publishing - I've found this especially with historical mysteries, which just don't seem to do all that well in the US. I'm willing to take a bit of a gamble (or read a sample) and be a bit less picky about typos if it means I get the next "installment" in a series that I thought was defunct... JMTCW... |

We could have a thread for self pubs that members have enjoyed, perhaps? With a short review, say fifty to a hundred words.
Anyone up for that? |

I do understand (most of the time) the resistance to self-pubs in this forum. I don't doubt that there are gems that crop up in the self-pub world, and there are plenty of examples that get mentioned in this forum (although not in this thread). A recommendation (as opposed to a cut-and-paste blurb) from someone trustworthy who has actually read a particular book goes a long way with me! KentE |

Have you looked at the Author Self-Promotions forum? It's like the deals forum, but for authors plugging their own books.
Also, there is "The Shameless Promotion and Endless Plug-Your-Novel Thread" in the same forum. If you want to recommend books, those go into the Reading Recommendations forum. As far as I know, there are no self-pub restrictions there. The restrictions are *here* because there is an entire forum dedicated for authors to promote their books. |

Aaah, but this is not author self-promotion - this is for the specific case where a previously print-published series, read and liked by a MR member, is continued by the author (not the member) with one or more self-pubbed books. I am traveling today and tomorrow, but over the weekend at the latest, maybe sooner if I get a chance, will look in the Recommendations forum to see if this seems as if it would fit, and will start up such a thread if it looks appropriate. I have two or three such series in mind off the top of my head. If anyone else (a moderator?) wants to comment first on the appropriateness, that would be great; otherwise I'll stick my nose out over the weekend. |
