I never thought a sinking ship would feel safer than Victorian intolerance!

I already am reading some other nominations, but no way I would ever vote for a book about the Titanic, even if implied it sunk because of alien interference........
This boot has sunk....there was a nice film about it....that's it. Go, Fanny and Stella |

Actually the two options available are at best my third and fourth choices out of the ten original choices. I'll go with the subject that is new to me at least. |

The men seem pretty evenly split, but the women overwhelmingly don't want to experience that ship going down yet again. Or maybe they just want to read about the dresses.

Now I just hope for enough time to read all. As we don't have a warm, dry summer this year, that should help. |

The movie Night to Remember was responsible for filling me a fear and respect of the sea. Those images of the Titanic going down have been burned into my brain. I don't think I'll ever be able to erase them.

The voting isn't over yet, but in the event that Fanny and Stella wins (or even if it doesn't and you decide to read it anyway} you might be interested in a podcast by Neil McKenna in which he discusses the book.
Go to Books in the iTunes store; type in Fanny and Stella and the book will appear (NB both Kobo and Kindle are much less expensive}. Underneath the book will be "Podcast Episodes". Below that is a single podcast episode entitled "Neil McKenna: Fanny and Stella". Click on that and listen. It is quite interesting and free. BTW there will be "spoilers" in the discussion and if you don't already know what happened perhaps you might prefer to wait until you finish the book before listening.
